Hi there-
I'm currently running two RDS servers which are connecting to one licensing server. One of the RDS servers never has a problem seeing the licenses from the license server nor does it have a problem running the licensing manager. My other RDS server however seems to be losing connection in some way, shape or form. Here's my environment:
- No Domain Controller, all servers are on the same local network and a part of the same workgroup
- All servers are running Windows Server 2008 R2. My trouble box is the only server running SP 1... The other two servers do not have SP 1 installed.
Problem:
On my trouble box: when I launch the licensing diagnosis it tells me that the connectivity is available, but that the credentials are not available. So I select "Provide Credentials", enter my credentials for the licensing server and then everything looks good. Connectivity is still available, credentials are available, and my number of licenses (in my case 30) now show available too. I would think that this would mean everything is on the up and up...but the next time I launch the licensing diagnosis I have to go through the same steps and re-authenticate with the licensing server. In addition to this, I cannot launch the "RD Licensing Manager" ever. It gives me the following error:
"Unable to run RD Licensing Manager. Ensure that <server\user> has the right to log on to the local computer on which you are running Remote Desktop Session Host Server Configuration Tool"
Obviously credentials are correct. I'm not seeing any warnings in my system event logs.
I want to make sure that I'm not going to all of the sudden have 50+ users unable to connect once the built in grace period expires. I'm not sure why my trouble box isn't keeping the credentials intact and consistently connecting with the licensing server. Anyone out there experienced anything like this?
