Ok so I am running Windows Sever 2008 R2. In this server I have a Hyper-V machine running, you guessed it, Server 2008 R2. This VM hosts one of our databases (its a tiny thing so the resources are good). I have disabled Easy Print in both gpedit and the GPO in AD. However it STILL installs printers using the Easyprint. If I remove Easy print, no printing at all.
I had a user in another building connect over a VPN and running remote desktop. On the old server (Server 2003) printing a 1 page document from the database he is in, took about 5 seconds or so. Normal.
When printing the same document from the same database but on the Server 2008 R2, it took 3.5 minutes just to spit that one page out.
I have been beating my head on a desk for a while trying to figure this out and from the onslaught of posts via Google searches, this seems to be a major issue.
What else can I do to get this thing to print like it's supposed to. I do not want to have to go back to the old server because, well in all honesty, I am amazed it even powers on.
One last thing... if it requires installing the printer directly, how do I accomplish that with no users connected if I know the make/model of their printers? (Probably overlooked how to do it but I've been staring at this so long my eyes are crossed.)
