I have a number of users who access a single application on my server (2008 R2) using an RDP client through a VPN tunnel or over the local network. All have been working well until recently when some users have been getting the message "The
User Profile Service failed the login. User profile cannot be loaded." I have read the various postings relating to this but none appear to answer this problem. All my users are defined in Active directory on the same server. Some
have roaming profiles and these can login with no problems. Non roaming users who already have a local profile on the server can login. But, non roaming users whose profile has gone from the server (and I don't know how they have been deleted)
get the above message. If I set up a completely new user they get the same message, but not if I make them roaming. All appropriate group membership is OK.
