Windows ThinPC as a dedicated RDP client

I'm the IT manager at a school where we have been using Windows 2008R2 server SP1 Remote desktop services with a great success to repurpose old PC's.  Currently we are using Windows ThinPC for the clients with a registry hack and some tweaking to boot directly to the RDP client.  This has been working with a variety of manageable errors on the clients.  I was curious if anyone has experience with a cleaner config.  I saw a video called: Windows ThinPC as a dedicated RDP client, where the user logged into the Windows ThinPC with their AD credentials and it booted them directly into a terminal server session.  Of course there was no description of how they set it up so I was hoping some of the experts in this forum would have experience with this. All of the thin clients are in the domain so this would be an ideal setup.  Thank you in advance for any suggestions or advice.
