Can't access through TS Gateway

Hi all,

I just need to ask one basic question about TS gateway. It may sound very silly but bear with this tormented soul please.

Before 2008, I have connected to our corporate server from home using Remote desktop for administration where the server was 2003 Enterprise and client was Xp SP3, many times. The server in question had a public IP bound to a NIC through which connection used to take place.

Then I started to hear about RD Gateway of 2008 and people were saying you can RDP from a remote location and get connected to your corporate network. I thought Microsoft had spun some magic and now you can connect without needing a public IP..!! Much like the way TeamViewer and LogMeIn works, without a public IP and through Firewalls..!!!

Then I started digging so that I can dish it out to my clients and save them money (from not buying Public IP. At my part of the world, you gotta buy everthing...!! IPs are scarce, you know, thats why there is IPv6...!!!). I did all MS and numerous other posts on internet has instructed, CAP, RAP, Network Policy Server and what not...!!!

But, alas I could not make it work. And I am MS certified....!!! ;-( A company having 7 locations trust me to administer their Windows environment...!!! I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown.....!!!

Then I found a post of one kind soul on WindowsITPro and there I read the dreaded words, PUBLIC IP..!!

Now my question is, is it a requirement? If so, then how come MS all the while never mentions it??????!!!!! GGrrrrr....But then again, maybe I missed it..!!! That is a possibility...!!!! ;-)

Anybody who answers earns a hug from me. And please only kind words...PEACE AND LOVE... SHARE AND CARE.

Thank you.

Warm regards,

RD.
