Terminal Servers 2008 hang at preparing your desktop , unless you are a member of the local admin group

Hi there ,

I have terminal servers runnnig dynamics gp . All has been going well if not a little slow . I now have the situation where users can only login via rdp or the console if they are members of the local admin group on the terminal servers .

There are two servers and it is happening on both . I have no idea why this has started happening but im not ruling out that the registry permissions have been messed with .I also had terminal server start failed and had to add network and local service to the localgroup (as per technet wiki) to resolve that issue

To troubleshoot i have moved one server into an OU and removed all gpo's - still hangs at preparing desktop

I have quickly added the terminal server role to another server and configured the correct access permissions- I can login to this server so I am ruling out group policies .

I did however get a program can't start because secsnmp.dll is missing - I believe this to be a Samsung printer thing and when I removed the connect client printers option this error went away . Even with the error clicking ok made it go away and the remote desktop loaded.

The bad news is that these are production servers and I have had to place the domain users group in to the local administrators to get people working , not ideal but a neccessary workaround.

Has anybody come across this before and what can I do to resolve ? Thanks in advance for any assistance
