Unable to connect to RDS server when using SSL (TLS 1.0) with new cert

Hi,

I have setup a Windows 2008 R2 RDS server, with the necessary CALs, licenses installed. I am able to connect to the RDS server using my client (windows 7) when i set the Security layer to be "SSL (TLS 1.0)" and it works fine. this is when i am using the default auto generated cert. I have since tried to install a new cert with a trusted CA. however, i encounter this error on my client when trying to access the RDS server.

"The remote computer requires that authentication be enabled to connect.

Remote computer: myRDSserver

The connection cannot proceed because authentication is not enabled."

The CA's cert is already installed under the Certificates (Local Computer) -> Trusted Root Certification -> Certificates on my CLIENT machine.

The RDS server cert is installed under Certificates (Local Computer) -> Personal -> Certificates

I have not been able to solve this error after searching the net.. anyone able to advise? thank you!
