Printers disappear when using remote desktop

We are having a problem when logging into our servers using remote desktop. The issue that we are seeing is that any printer mapped via a print server will be deleted and then reinstalled when logging in.  The messages that are being logged in the Operational log under the PrintService are:

Message: Cached printer\\CSR|<server>\{018952A3-2F73-4464-BAA6-E71843179905} has been scheduled for deletion due to a logon scavenging operation.  This printer is no longer referenced in the registry.

    2) Event ID: 302

Message: Printer {018952A3-2F73-4464-BAA6-E71843179905} will be deleted.  No user action is required.

We have a test Windows 2008 r2 system running in a VirtualBox environment with the latest patches.  If I use the window provided by VirtualBox, I can lock and re-login to the system without these messages ever appearing.  If I log into the system for the first time using remote desktop (/admin) it will not delete the printers and these messages will not appear.  But when I close the screen, "x" out, I will then see these messages either logging in via VirtualBox or opening a new remote desktop.  It will then occur each time again if I use remote desktop to log in.  The problem occurs because we have an application running on the production systems that do not like to have its printers removed when it is running.  If it does we start to see a large number of printing issues.  This does not occur if we map it locally but this is not a viable option as a certain printer type cannot be used locally with the program we are running.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
