I do IT work for dental and vet customers setting up networks and equipment. Currently i use a vmware esxi setup with a server 2008 R2 with terminal services where thin clients connect to. Also use a dedcated linux Raid 1 file server for Data\filesharing. Setup is dead simple and reliable. But many of my customers are unahappy with video performance over the network, they do alot of video training, you tube etc. They do not like the idea of buying expensive Nvidia Quatro cards to support VM ware 3d video. I am thinking of switching over to Hyper-v and remote FX. After reading many documents and articles i am unsure of
1. How to thin clients connect to the VM ? terminal services? is there a connection software to connect the thin clients.
2. would i need to buy licenses one for physical 2008 r2 OS and another 2008 r2 OS for VM to use terminal services to have the clients connect to? or would a standard xp or 7 work with some connector type of software?
3. will remote FX handle video with a desktop class video card with 512-1GB video ram streaming to 5-20 thin clients?
