The link to My Documents in the start menu doesn't work anymore

Windows 2008 R2 sp1 (terminal server)

Problem:
The link to My Documents in the start menu doesn't work anymore. Nothing happens when clicking on it. I think it has something to do with folder redirection, but I can't quite put my finger on what the problem is.

The My Documents folder in the user profile is being redirected to the user home folder using a GPO.

User configuration\ Preferences\ Control Panel Settings\Start Menu <Documents Display as a link>

I checked the link in the registry (HKEY_Users\<User SID>\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\UserShell Folders\<personal>). The link points to the correct folder.

The users got full access on the folder. And the link works when opened with Windows Explorer.

Policies restrict users of making changes to the start menu or any change whatsoever on the terminal server. So they can't create a new link

Can someone please help me with this problem?
