How comes Mircrosoft put work into developing RemoteFX to function over WAN in Server 2012, ostensibly to leverage 3G connectivity, but their own Surface tablet does not have mobile Internet capability? And as far as I know Microsoft have no plans to introduce
a 3G version (If they do, please, please let me know the timescales!).
The new functionality is supported in Windows Server 2012 and Windows 8 (the tablet OS), according to Microsoft lead software developer Rajeesh Rahajan (see article http://blogs.msdn.com/b/rds/archive/2012/08/23/remotefx-for-wan-overview-of-intelligent-and-adaptive-transports-in-windows-8-and-windows-server-2012.aspx),
and was specifically developed to take advantage of 3G network connection.
My personal view is that a tablet without 3G/4G connectivity defeats the purpose of it being truly 'mobile'. It should sit in the space between laptop and mobile phone and possess the connectivity options of BOTH.
