Environment:
- Vanilla RDS (not-VDI; traditional RDS)
- Server 2012 RDS session host
- Server 2008 R2 hosting user profile disk store over SMB share
- Computer account has rights to share and NTFS rights
Logging on to the RDS server the first time will work fine - the UPD is mounted successfully, and user profile persists logons\logoffs (usually).
After a reboot of either the RDS server, or the file server housing the UPDs, profile load fails and users are logged on with a temporary profile. This can be resolved by destroying the share and recreating it...even though no sessions or open file handles show in the console. Once resolved, UPDs are successfully re-mounted again.
I've noticed that the vhdx file itself on the file server is locked.
First error received - 1515:
Windows has backed up this user profile. Windows will automatically try to use the backup profile the next time this user logs on.
Then a 1511:
Windows cannot find the local profile and is logging you on with a temporary profile. Changes you make to this profile will be lost when you log off.
