I've installed Terminal Services CALs (20 per User and 20 Device) on a License Server and verified that I can connect more than 2 RDP sessions to a TEST server (a second system -also running Windows2003) which I've enabled Terminal Services on and pointed at the License Server.
My question is can this be done without first enabling Terminal Services on the test server? The reason I ask is because I saw a rather ominous message saying that applications on the test server would have to be reinstalled were I to continue to enable Terminal Services on it. That wasn't any issue on the test server where there aren't any critical pre-existing applications but my goal is to allow several (around 5-10) people log in simultaneously to a DEVELOPMENT server that's been around for about a year and has critical applications which they depend on installed on it. Reinstalling them wouldn't be trivial since some of the knowlege about them has left the company.
So basically I'd like to know if there's a way, without enabling Terminal Services, to get it to recognize and leverage the CALs on the License Server so that more than two people can RDP to it simultaneously in a simple manner just as they do for up to two users now but without the two user limitation.
Or am I misinterpretting the message and making too big a deal about enabling Terminal Services on Windows 2003? I also don't really understand why applications that are working fine now for two RDP users would have to be reinstalled after Terminal Services were enabled.
