We recently built a new Windows 2008 x64 SP2 virtual machine. After we RDP to the 2008 box we go into terminal services manager and try to remote control user logins. Most of the other servers are Windows 3003 servers. The mstsc.exe's that are being used to connect include 6.0.6000.16386, 6.0.6001.18000, and 6.0.6001.18564. The problem is that when I go into terminal servers and try to remote control I get the hotkey message box, and then the screen blinks and goes right back to the terminal services manager screen. To make things worse this only happens on about half of our 50+ users but the other half works fine. I cannot find any correlation to server, rdp version or user security groups. All clients are remote controllable from our old Windows 2003 server and we have never had any problems with remote control until we got this new 2008 machine in. All stations are using single monitors and most are HP Thinclients. I have enabled full remote control without user's permission on all default domain GPO. What else could causing some of our sessions to be remote controllable and some to not be? Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you need any addition info please let me know. Thanks in advance for all your help.
