Does Windows Server 2012 support thin-zero clients with no HDD, but PXE?

I am trying to find a step-by-step guide on making thin/zero-clients work with the new Microsoft VDI solutions, but the following examples are NOT what I’m looking for, which I am apparently running into a lot while searching.

1. Using Windows Thin PC. This OS needs to be installed on a HDD so it defeats the purpose of using the thin/zero-clients because they have no HDD.

2. PXE booting with certified thin/zero-clients. Why do I need to find certified hardware equipment? In theory, if I have a regular desktop computer with no HDD attached to it, but with PXE boot enabled, can’t I boot into a Windows Server with RDS installed on it?

I’m beginning to think Microsoft does not specialize in this area unless 3rd parties are involved, such as certified thin/zero-clients, Citrix, or VMware. I vaguely heard somewhere that Microsoft doesn't support this, but with the new release of Windows Server 2012, Windows 8, and all of these new virtualization apps. coming out from Microsoft, I thought they would have stepped it up? So my main questions would be, where would I start to make non-certified thin-clients work with a Windows ONLY environment?

Current setup:
Microsoft VDI
-Windows Server 2012
-Hyper-V
-RDS

I have virtual desktops up and running and can connect to them using the RD Connection app. that’s built into Windows XP/7/8 OS, but these are full blow systems.

I actually have an Intel Atom D525MW board for my zero-clients, but these don’t have HDD nor PXE boot, so I gave up and decided to take a random computer with no HDD, but has PXE boot, just to see if Microsoft is capable of support such devices.
