When mstsc.exe is configured to start a Notepad on connection using Remote Desktop to Windows 2003 server, it perfectly works. The Notepad opens and on closing the Notepad the session automatically logs off. However if the same is tried for Windows 2008
R2 server, it doesn't works. It simply opens up the Windows Desktop. I came across few of the sites that its a known bug in Windows 2008 and Microsoft is yet to release a fix for this. And in some of the sites it is mentioned that it can be only achieved
using RemoteApp. But RemoteApp requires licensing (Am not sure about it). My question is "Can we start a program on connection using Remote Desktop to Windows 2008 Server as similar to Windows 2003?" I don't want to use Terminal Services as it requires licensing.
Any help on this regard would be highly appreciated. Many thanks in advance.
