We received a special requirement to enable NLA on a windows 2008 R2 server. However, after that there is no RDP possible from windows server 2003 SP2 server.
I also upgraded RDP client to latest version and installed the recommended patch. Now it shows Shell version of 6.0.6001. RDP 6.1 supported as well + I also did a special step where I copied credssp.dll from a windows xp sp3 and performed registry changes to enable NLA. So not my RDP client also shows as NLA supported. Now when I try to RDP same server, it gives another error. "an authentication error has occurred (code: 0x507)"
I checked several articles which says that credssp and NLA is not supported in 2003 R2. I use my 2k3 server just as a gateway to connect servers with RDP, and dont want to upgrade it to win2k8 just to fix RDP issue with one server.
I know, there is an option available to enable it from xp sp3. Has anyone did it also for 2k3 R2 SP2 servers?
